Viento

This Spring/ Summer 2025 Collection take inspiration from sailing, its visual presence as both structural and fluid. Blending firm and flowing organic silhouettes, I researched sail construction, traditional knots, eyelets, wood working, and basketry. My primary research includes my own film photography, taken at boat harbors in New York and during a sailing trip I took in Mexico. This inspired the title "Viento", meaning wind in Spanish. This final look is inspired by the feeling of wind beneath sails. I manipulated the garment's shape using wood reeds sewn into channels I created in this antique woven fabric, dating back to the 1930's, I sourced and restored. The reeds created the illusion of movement and fluidity. A knotted rope structure overlays the sail-like pieces, juxtaposing their soft, fluid form.
